What The Heck Is Wrong With People?

What the heck is wrong with people?

What the heck is wrong with people?

Just to prepare you, I have a rant coming on.  WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?  When did your business, life, errands, whatever become more important than mine?  Or anyone else’s, for that matter.

How did it become ok to roll through a stop sign behind the driver in front of you?  You. Didn’t. Stop!  How do you justify that?

Tonight I reached my breaking point.  Driving through that darn mall that is one of only two entrances to our complex.  It is a lesson in patience.  People rushing to cross through traffic without a thought of my car in their path.  I can’t begin to tell you how many times we almost get hit.  Daily.

I’ll admit that I’m not the most patient person as evidenced by my “word” for 2013.  But, I was taught that I stop at a stop sign.  That I should take turns when I come to a multi-stop intersection.  I, also, learned that it’s rude to cut people off.  I even try to keep my speed no higher than 5 miles over the speed limit.

I try to make it to and from my destination alive.  It’s kind of a big deal to me and my family.  I’d like to get you safely home, too.  Just so you know.  I’m not into taking out random folks.

So why is it ok for you to get home safely at the expense of my safety?  Think about it.  Every time you drive through a stop sign or drive 10 and 20 miles over the speed limit up my behind, you’re putting my life in danger.  I’m not perfect, but I can (and do) follow the rules of the road and the laws of this land.

And, I realize that not every drives this way.  Maybe you don’t.  You can do your part to prevent this behavior in others.  Please teach your kids not to drive this way.  Catch yourself when you start to drive unsafely.  I thank you.  My family thanks you.

So, I’ll ask you again, What the heck is wrong with people?

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT

  1. I try to keep it to within three miles of the speed limit. & I Drive for a living. I feel your pain.

  2. I think it’s all about everyone feeling “entitled” – they don’t think the rules apply to them and that rules are for idiots etc. They don’t like to have to wait or put themselves out…….blame society and feel free to yell loudly at them (with your windows up) because that’s as close to road rage as anyone should get!

  3. Yes!! I see so much selfish and crazy behavior at school pick-up; people will literally cut in front of others and go speeding through the school zones, drives me crazy!

  4. I agree with you totally. I just got beeped at today because I was not fast enough, but there was a car in my way and that is why I was going slow! I am definitely teaching my children how to drive carefully and I am teaching them mostly to watch out for the other crazy drivers.

  5. Yesterday, on the highway, I was in the right lane as someone was trying to get on the highway. They have a yield sign, and are supposed to adjust their speed to get onto the highway safely. I normally move into the left lane if I can, to be courteous and give them room. Yesterday, there was a car in the left lane, so I couldn’t. Well, the guy trying to get on the highway was very upset that I didn’t slam my brakes on to let him in front of me. He proceeded to follow me, making rude hand gestures, flashing his lights at me,and (what looked like) yelling at me. If I changed lanes, he changed lanes. It was scary, and for what purpose? All because I couldn’t adjust my behavior and caused him to need to obey the law? I was eventually able to lose him in some heavy traffic, but it was scary.

  6. There’s lots of crazy behaviors out there. And in here too. ha. I have to count myself in the bunch at times! Thanks for the reminder for us all to pay better attention.
