I received two boxes of Fiber One® Meal Bars from BzzAgent for free to review. One box for Chocolate Peanut Butter and the other was Strawberry Greek Yogurt. They also come in Dark Chocolate Almond. There are five Fiber One® Meal Bars in each box. I thought that I would bring them to work since I skip lunch all the time.
I tried the Strawberry Greek Yogurt ones first.
When I opened the package, I immediately smelled strawberries. The interesting thing is that in addition to strawberry fruit pieces, there are cranberries and elderberry juice. In the first bite, I tasted the strawberries and Greek yogurt, but after the immediate taste, the crunchy stuff is pretty flavorless. There are almonds in this meal bar as well. It quelled my hunger for 3.5 hours. I wouldn’t turn this down, if I were hungry and it was offered to me. Each bar is 170 calories, with 7g of fat, 22g total carbohydrates, and 10g of protein.
Then I tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter.
When I opened this package, I had a slight smell of peanuts. In taking my first bite, I tasted peanuts, dark chocolate (and chocolate-flavored drops?), and a slightly salty taste. Again, the crunchy stuff was tasteless. Unfortunately, it leaves a full-feeling in my throat after I eat it. These were definitely were not my favorite. Each bar is 190 calories, with 9g of fat, 20g total carbohydrates, and 10g of protein.
If you have nut, soy, or milk allergies, you should steer clear of these meal bars.
When it comes down to it, I probably won’t purchase these on my own. The Fiber One® Meal Bars are filled with chemicals (and soy, which mimics estrogen-I don’t want my men eating that!) and aren’t all that healthy. If I wanted something that was going to replace my meal, I would find something else.
